The brainchild of Councillor Mike Rodger (Newbury Mayor
2004/2005), the Newbury Timeline Mosaic has now been
completed and unveiled to the public.
The
12 plates outline 1,000 years of the towns history,
from the towns founding by Ernulf de Hesdin to
Jack of Newbury, and from the Civil War to the peace
protests at Greenham Common. More than 4,000 people
helped put in the pieces of the design by local artist
Paul Forsey.
Visitors to the town can find the
mosaic set into the pavement, on the canal side
of
the central library in the Wharf.
